Gutter Cleaning
Gutter
cleaning is a time consuming and difficult task, especially if your
house is more than one story tall. If you have trees around your
home that drop leaves in the fall, gutter cleaning is a fact of
life. For many its a task they would do anything to avoid. Gutter
guards are often the answer to their question. Unfortunately
cleaning gutters is still required even with good quality guards
installed. The reason is that even though large leaves and twigs
are kept out, smaller debris that gets through the holes in the
plastic or mesh can still accumulate enough to clog and block water
flow.
What is the best way to perform gutter
cleaning?
The best way is the one that is the least dangerous. Plain and
simple. The most common ways are to climb on a ladder and either
scoop out the debris with your hands or drag a hose up with you and
wash out the debris with high pressure.
Do I need scaffolding or a ladder?
Consider the height of your roof and the slope or pitch. If you
are able to stand on the roof without getting off-balance and
falling then you wouldn't need to put up scaffolding. Generally if
you have a multi-story home you would be climbing up and down the
ladder fairly frequently as you move down the gutters.
Are there any products available to make the cleaning
task easier?
Yes. You can get a gutter flusher or even a gutter cleaning
robot. We have featured both products here.
