Gutter Cleanup for Storms
If you know a big storm is coming or you just had one, it's important to be sure your gutters are clean. If a storm hits and your gutters are
plugged, the water will run off the room, over the gutters and straight down to the foundation of your house. This is bad because water sitting
next to your foundation can weaken it and cause leaks in your basement.
If a storm has just happened and you have a lot of leaves, branches and other debris in your yard, you'd better take a look at your gutters,
too. More than likely they are full of the same debris found on the ground and will cause a blockage that impacts water flow during the next
rainstorm.
It's always good to have clean gutters so monitor them periodically throughout the year as well as just before and just after a rainstorm.
The other alternative is to get the leaf gutter guard which will eliminate the need for all those checks since it
will keep the debris out of the gutters in the first place. You will want to visually inspect them for damage though, at least once a year.
